Overnight Parking Ordinance

In accordance with Interlaken Ordinance No. 2020-2, the Deal Police Department has begun to use an online registration system that enables residents to submit requests for overnight parking.
This online submission form will allow residents to provide accurate information including vehicle descriptors, vehicle registration, vehicle location, and resident contact information. This information will then be available to officers during their patrol. The system will make the process of overnight parking easier and more convenient for residents.
Ordinance No. 2020-2 prohibits on-street parking for both sides of all streets between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. During the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., residents are prohibited from on-street parking on the north side of Bridlemere Avenue along the area contiguous to the borough recreational field.
Residents must meet the following requirements prior to submitting an overnight parking request:
  • The vehicle must be legally parked.
  • Information provided on the form must be accurate.
  • No more than six (6) nightly requests per calendar month. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in an issuance of a summons. In the event of snowfall, extreme weather events, or other emergent situations, all parking permissions may be denied and previously approved parking permissions may be revoked.

 TREE ORDINANCE - 2019 - 7  "PROTECTION OF TREES"

As of January 9, 2020 the newly adopted Tree Preservation Ordinance is in effect. The new ordinance is in place to prevent indiscriminate, uncontrolled, and excessive destruction, removal, and clear cutting of trees upon lots and tracts of land within the Borough of Interlaken in order to maintain the aesthetic character, prevent erosion, and control actions that will substantially change drainage patterns, and restrict actions that will cause a hazard to persons and property.

Please make yourself aware of some of the changes that include:

  • Permits for the removal of a heritage tree (any tree with a circumference of 40 inches or more) should only be made for compelling reasons based on the totality of the circumstances. Heritage tree removal seriously impacts the Borough. With this in mind, there is a formal review of each situation regarding the request to remove the Borough's large, older trees.

  • Heritage trees requiring removal for construction projects will require a mitigation plan that must be submitted for the replacement of these trees.  Heritage trees will need to be replaced by planting a tree of 3" and 3 1/2" caliper with a similar mature height.

  • Increased penalties for removing a tree without a tree permit.

Please see the attached Ordinance file for all the changes and new guidelines.
